The Municipality of Blanc-Sablon is sharing a notice received about upcoming work to the airport this summer.

The works for the parking lot will be extended until August.
Here are the phases as currently scheduled for the runway:
Phase 1: Half-width runway closure for approx. 2 weeks, 24m/75 ft. wide runway accessible during the day, runway closed at night (8:00 pm to 6:30 am), emergency helicopter evacuations and non-emergency evacuations postponed until after 6:30 am. The period currently defined for this phase is from 2024-07-01 to 2024-07-19.
Phase 2: Complete runway closure, runway not accessible day or night. The range currently defined for this phase is from 2024-07-20 to 2024-07-27. Emergency and non-emergency evacuations will be carried out by helicopter.
Phase 3: Half-width runway closure for approximately 2 weeks, 24m/75 ft wide runway accessible during the day, runway closed at night (20:00 to 06:30), emergency evacuations by helicopter and non-emergency evacuations postponed until after 6:30 am. The range currently defined for this phase is from 2024-07-28 to 2024-08-17.
