PUBLIC NOTICE FROM HYDRO QUEBEC
Over the next few months, we'll be carrying out clearing, felling and pruning work in the villages of Brador, Lourdes-de-Blanc-Sablon and Blanc-Sablon. The purpose of this work is to ensure service reliability and personal safety.
Since there are often residences nearby, and our work will sometimes encroach on private land, we want to be sure that all residents are informed of our passage and that they agree with the work required.
To help you better understand what we do, here is a description of what we do:
Selective clearing:
Selective clearing consists of cutting down all trees incompatible with the network, over a distance of between 5 and 6.5 metres, on either side of the power lines. The distance to be cleared depends on the number of wires. When there is only one wire, the clearing distance is 5 metres, whereas it is 6.5 metres when there are 3 wires. At all times, trees and shrubs that do not interfere with the network due to their low spread will be left in place.
Felling:
Tree felling consists of removing trees that could fall onto the wires and cause a power failure. These trees are identified in the field with orange paint.
Pruning:
Pruning involves cutting branches from the tops of trees to clear a corridor around power lines.
It is very important to understand that in most cases, all branches will be left on the ground, and that without exception, all trunks will be left on the ground.
This work is required to ensure reliable service for customers, as well as the safety of people and Hydro-Québec personnel. Work is scheduled to start this summer and continue into next year.
Thank you.
